Privacy policy
Last updated: October 15, 2026
Orbit is an iPhone app that helps you keep in touch with people in your professional network. This policy explains what Orbit stores, who processes it, how long it's kept, and how you can see or delete it. It covers the Orbit app and this website.
Orbit is made by Feras Saleh, an independent developer in Quebec, Canada. Feras Saleh is also the person in charge of protecting personal information, and can be reached at orbit@recapmaster.com.
What Orbit stores
Your account
- Your email address and password. The password is stored only as a secure hash, never in readable form.
- Your app language, your phone's time zone (so reminders arrive in your morning), and whether you agreed to drafting with AI.
- How many free drafts you've used, and whether you have Orbit Pro and when it ends.
- A notification token for your phone, if you allow notifications.
Your contacts
- For each contact: their name, company, how you met, your relationship, how often you want to check in, and the language for their drafts.
- When you import from your phone, Orbit reads only each contact's name, company and the phone's internal ID for that contact (so the same person isn't imported twice). It does not read or store phone numbers, email addresses or anything else from your address book. You choose which contacts Orbit can see in your iPhone settings.
- If you delete an imported contact, Orbit keeps that phone ID so the next import doesn't bring them back.
What you write
- Your notes about each contact, including notes you mark as private.
- The drafts Orbit writes for you, the version you shared, and when you marked someone as contacted.
- A short summary of older notes for contacts with many notes, written from shared notes only.
Orbit has no ads, no analytics and no tracking across apps or websites. It doesn't sell or rent personal information, and doesn't share it for advertising.
Why it's used
Only to run Orbit for you: to show who's due for a check-in, to write drafts when you ask, to send your morning reminder, to manage your subscription, and to keep the free tier from being abused. Orbit never sends messages for you; every message goes out from your own apps, after you've read it.
Drafting with AI
When you tap to write a draft, and only after you've agreed to it in the app, Orbit sends the following to Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic:
- the contact's name, company and how you met;
- your recent notes about them, including private notes, which Claude is told to use only for tone and never mention;
- how long it's been since you last talked, and your last messages to them (or your latest drafts).
For contacts with many notes, older shared notes are also sent to Claude to be summarized. Private notes are never part of that summary.
Anthropic processes this to write the draft and returns it to Orbit. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, it doesn't use this data to train its models. Anthropic processes data in the United States.
Who processes your information
Orbit uses these service providers. Each one receives only what it needs for its part.
| Provider | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database and sign-in. Stores everything listed above. | Canada |
| Fly.io | Runs Orbit's server, which writes drafts and sends reminders. Stores nothing permanently. | Canada |
| Anthropic | Writes drafts and note summaries (see above). | United States |
| Apple | App Store purchases and push notifications. | United States |
| RevenueCat | Confirms your subscription status. Receives your Orbit account ID and purchase details, not your notes or contacts. | United States |
| Expo | Delivers the morning reminder. The reminder says only how many people are due, never their names. | United States |
| hCaptcha | Checks that sign-ups and sign-ins come from a person, not a bot. | United States |
| Email provider | Sends the account confirmation email and password reset codes. | United States |
| Cloudflare | Hosts this website. | Global |
Some of these providers are outside Quebec and Canada, so your information may be processed under the laws of those countries. Orbit chooses providers that protect personal information with safeguards comparable to Quebec law.
How long it's kept
- Drafts you never share are deleted 90 days after they're written.
- Everything else is kept until you delete it, or until you delete your account.
- When you delete your account, everything is deleted right away, with one exception: to stop people from deleting and re-creating accounts for more free drafts, Orbit keeps a one-way scrambled code (a keyed hash) made from your email address, and the number of free drafts you'd used, for 12 months. The code can't be turned back into your email address.
Your choices and rights
- See and correct: everything Orbit stores about your contacts is visible and editable in the app. For a copy of your information, email orbit@recapmaster.com.
- Delete: delete notes, drafts and contacts in the app at any time, or delete your whole account under Account, then Delete account.
- AI drafting: Orbit sends nothing to Anthropic until you agree, and only when you ask for a draft.
- Notifications: turn the morning reminder off in the app or in your iPhone settings.
- Contacts: change which contacts Orbit can see, or remove access, in your iPhone settings.
Deleting your account doesn't cancel an App Store subscription. Cancel it in your iPhone settings: tap your name, then Subscriptions.
You can also withdraw your consent, ask for a copy of your information in a common format, or ask how it was used, by writing to the email above. If you aren't satisfied with the answer, you can complain to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
Security
Your data travels encrypted between the app and Orbit's servers. In the database, each account can read only its own data. If a breach ever puts your information at risk of serious harm, you and the Commission d'accès à l'information will be told.
Children
Orbit is for working professionals and isn't meant for anyone under 14.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. If the change affects how your information is used, the app will tell you before it takes effect.
